What Do Jesus And The Bible Say About Hell?

Many people claim that spending an eternity in Hell for our sins on earth is a bit too extreme.  People in Hell will still be cursing God and sinning as they are being punished.  Therefore, the punishment for their sins will never exceed their crimes.  In other words, people will still be sinning in Hell so God's punishment will be just as they continue to blaspheme His holy name.

Some people claim that it would be impossible to enjoy heaven when a loved-one is in Hell.  Every one of those people who make that statement have a favorite food and I am sure they enjoy a good meal with friends and family.  How can they savor a good meal when numerous people in this world are starving of hunger?  How selfish of them, right?

I am sure they also delight in a nice warm bed to sleep in at night.  How can they bask in a comfortable bed when so many people in this world are cold and homeless?  I am certain they cherish their kids and family.  How can they appreciate their kids and family when so many people in this world are all alone with no shoulder to cry on?

As for myself, all of the heathens in my family have heard and subsequently rejected the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  They have a free will and they can believe what they want to.  God is a gentlemen and He will not force himself on anybody.  If they continue in their unbelief they will wake up in Hell one day and they will have nobody to blame but themselves.  The theme song of Hell is, "My Way" by Frank Sinatra.  You can do things "Your Way" or "God's Way" and in the end you reap what you sow.

If God were to force these unbelieving heathens into heaven against their will that would be worse than Hell itself.  Think about it, they are where they want to be and God is honoring their choice to have nothing to do with Him.  God is eager to save them, but they will not have anything to do with Him:

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me," Revelation 3:20.

Children (The Age of Accountability), the mentally handicapped, and others who do not know right from wrong all go to heaven when they die.  Hell is filled with people who are grown adults who willfully rejected Jesus while they walked this earth.

People often ask, "What about those people throughout history who have never heard the Gospel?  Will they go to Hell?"  I answer that probing question fully in this article: Will People Go To Heaven Or Hell Whom Have Never Heard The Gospel Of Jesus?

There are a lot of opinions about Hell, the last thing that you need is another one.  So, lets see what Jesus and the Bible say about Hell, there is no higher authority.

If you disagree with that, then the burden of proof falls at your feet to disprove what Jesus taught and his resurrection after three days in the tomb.  Jesus prophesied that he would in fact rise again after three days.

The resurrection is a historical fact, therefore, this validates everything that Jesus taught, thus proving that he is God in the flesh and the only way to heaven since he alone paid the penalty for our sins on the cross.  Take the time to carefully examine the historic, manuscript, prophetic, biblical, and the internal evidence of the Gospel's themselves.

Some people claim, "God has not provided enough evidence for me to believe in Him."  Well, here is your evidence that you asked from God, now what are you going to do with it?  If you truly desire to know God's truth, you will discover it in the person of Jesus.

Hell Is Eternal Torment:

"And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."
Daniel 12:2

"The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire?  Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?"
Isaiah 33:14

"And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh."
Isaiah 66:24

"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels."
Matthew 25:41

"In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power."
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9

"Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.  And this will we do, if God permit."
Hebrews 6:1-3

"Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever."
Jude 13

"And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
Mark 9:47-48

"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
Matthew 25:46

"And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."
Revelation 14:11

"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, From whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
(Revelation 20:10-15)

Judgement In The Old Testament:

"For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."
Ecclesiastes 12:14

"Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish."
Psalm 1:5-6

"And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?  Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment."
Job 19:29

Many People Go To Hell:

"Enter in at the narrow gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be who go in that way; because narrow is the gate, and hard is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
Matthew 7:13

A lot Of People Who Call Themselves "Christians" Are Going To Hell:

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
Matthew 7:21-23

You Should Take Drastic Measures (Not Literal) To Avoid Hell:

"And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
Mark 9:43-48

There Is No Escape From Hell:

"There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence."
Luke 16:19-26

After Death Comes The Judgment:

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."
Hebrews 9:27-28

Ok, So How Do We Get To Heaven?

Salvation Is A Free Gift Apart From Our Good Works Through The Atoning Death Of Christ In Our Place:

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9

"Not by works of righteousness which you have done, but according to his mercy he saved us."
Titus 3:5

"Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
Romans 4:4-5

"Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."
Galatians 2:16

"Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."
Romans 11:5-6

"Be it known unto you, therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins; And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses."
Acts 13:38-39

"I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"
Galatians 2:21

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord."
Romans 6:23

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Romans 10:9

Jesus Is The Only Way To Heaven:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father, but by me."
John 14:6

"Niether is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
Acts 4:12

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the man, Christ Jesus."
1 Timothy 2:5

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber...Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.  All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.  I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."
John 10:1,7-9

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.  Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning.  If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father."
1 John 2:22-24

"Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God."
1 John 4:15

"Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him...He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."
1 John 5:1, 10-12

"That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him."
John 5:23

Dear Friend,
Could I please have a minute of your time?  I humbly ask  you to consider the fate of your eternal soul.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son,  that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16

Friend, God loved you so much that he sent Jesus to take your place on the cross.  You see, the penalty for sin is death and an eternity separated from a just and Holy God in hell.  God is so holy that He cannot even look upon evil (Habakkuk 1:13).  In this state of sin you are God's enemy and you must be reconciled to Him, His way.

"God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day."
Psalm 7:11

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord."
Romans 6:23

Friend you do not earn salvation, it is a gift from God.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9

"Not by works of righteousness which you have done, but according to his mercy he saved us..."
Titus 3:5

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Romans 5:1

If the Sovereign God is moving you to take that step of faith and trust in Him; confess to Jesus that you are a sinner and then turn from them.  Repent and ask Him to forgive you of your sins believing that He took your place on the cross to pay the penalty that you deserved.  Believing that He rose again bodily on third day, and that there is no other way to heaven, but by His finished work on the cross.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Romans 10:9

"Be it known unto you, therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins; And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses."
Acts 13:38-39

"Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
Romans 4:4-5

There is only one way to God, and it is through Jesus Christ, He alone paid the price for the sins of mankind.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father, but by me."
John 14:6

"Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
Acts 4:12

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the man, Christ Jesus."
1 Timothy 2:5

Here's Something To Ponder...

Here's something to think about, let's say that I'm wrong about the Bible, let's assume that it is false, 50 years from now it won't matter, we will both be dead and buried pushing up daisies.
But, if it is true, 50 years from now, you will be in unspeakable agony, wishing for all of eternity that you had just one minute back on earth to repent of your sins, but, there will be no second chance my friend, you are in hell and there is no way out.
Have you ever thought of this?  Nobody is guaranteed tomorrow, it could be you, or me, who is translated into eternity this very day!  People spend so much time planning for the next 10, 15, 20 years, all the while neglecting eternity.  That is very foolish indeed, be wise and prepare to meet your Maker.

Take the time to carefully examine the historic, manuscript, prophetic, biblical, and the internal evidence of the Gospel's themselves.

"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the next day.  For what is your life?  It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."
James 4:14

"Enter in at the narrow gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be who go in that way; because narrow is the gate, and hard is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
Matthew 7:13
"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
